Zhuhai Airport handled 4.97 million passengers in the first 10 months of 2016, which projects to a yearly increase of 29.5 percent. In comparison, for all of 2015 there were 4.7 million traveler transits, according to authorities in Jinwan District where the airport is located.

This year’s passenger throughput is expected to reach 6.08 million at the present growth rate. From January to October, the airport handled 24,700 tons of cargo, up 20.4 percent year-on-year, almost catching up with last year’s total of 25,800 tons.
The authorities said they will accelerate airport and track upgrading, promote the opening of an international checkpoint, and increase the number of routes and flights so as to make the airport a significant air logistics base in South China and an international aviation portal on the west bank of the Pearl River.
