Guangdong to achieve win-win development with MSR countries

Guangdong hopes to join hands with the countries (regions) along the Maritime Silk Road to achieve win-win development, said Guangdong Governor Zhu Xiaodan at the Keynote Conference of the Production Capacity Cooperation and Innovative Development Forum in Guangzhou on October 28, 2016.

As part of the 2016 Guangdong 21st Century Maritime Silk Road International Expo (2016 MSR-EXPO) which is being held in Dongguan until October 30, the Forum includes the Keynote Conference, Ministerial Dialogue on Production Capacity Cooperation and Innovative Development, Guangzhou International Sister Cities Roundtable, Promotion of Investment Environment in Saudi Arabia, etc.

More than 800 guests from China and foreign countries attended the Forum, including Yosiwo George, the Vice President of the Federated States of Micronesia, and Joe Natuman, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Tourism, Commerce and Trade of Vanuatu.

The Keynote Conference and the Ministerial Dialogue on Production Capacity Cooperation and Innovative Development are hosted by the Organizing Committee of 2016 MSR-EXPO and organized by the People’s Government of Guangzhou Municipality at the Oriental Hall of Guangzhou Baiyun International Convention Center.

At the Keynote Conference, Zhu Xiaodan, Governor of Guangdong Province pointed out that Guangdong is one of the starting points of the ancient Maritime Silk Road as well as a pioneer in China’s reform and opening up. The bilateral trade between Guangdong and 14 main countries along the 21st Maritime Silk Road sees an increase of 8% from January to September this year. Guangdong’s actual investment in these 14 countries also gains a year-on-year growth of 103.6%. This fully displays the solid foundation and huge potential for the production capacity cooperation between Guangdong and the countries (regions) along the Maritime Silk Road.

Led by production capacity cooperation and innovation-driven development, Guangdong expect to take the forum as an opportunity to promote mutual understanding and trust between Guangdong and the countries (regions) along the Maritime Silk Road, comprehensively deepen the mutual beneficial cooperation in fields of infrastructure, connectivity, trade contacts, manufacture, agriculture, energy sources, marine economy and tourism, said Zhu Xiaodan.
