On the morning of October 17, during Uruguayan President Tabare Vazquez's visit to Guangdong Province, the China-Uruguay Economic and Trade Conference was held in Guangzhou. The conference was jointly hosted by China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) Guangdong Committee, Uruguayan Embassy in China and Uruguay XXI, the Investment and Export Promotion Institute.
Tabare Vazquez, President of Uruguay, Huang Longyun, Chairman of the Standing Committee of Guangdong Provincial People's Congress and He Zhongyou, Vice Governor of Guangdong Province, were present at the conference and witnessed the signing of a cooperation agreement between CCPIT Guangdong and Uruguay XXI. More than 150 Officials and entrepreneurs from two countries attended the activity.

In his speech, Governor He Zhongyou indicated, there are marked differences in resources and industrial development between China and Uruguay. Their economies can be complementary to each other. With the development of comprehensive cooperation between China and Uruguay and further exchanges between China and Latin-America, economic and trade cooperation of Guangdong and Uruguay is embracing a new stage full of unprecedented opportunities.
He stated, based on closed relationship between Guangdong and Rocha, President Tabare Vazquez's visit to Guangdong provides a new opportunity for the two places to make the most of their comparative advantages and enhance cooperation in wider ranges and of higher levels.
He said Guangdong and Rocha should work together to explore trade potential. Further contacts between governmental trade departments and business associations are proposed.
Guangdong's advantages in finance, technology and equipment can be combined with Rocha's abundant resources and excellent environment so as to improve product competitiveness and cultivate Latin-American market together, he added.
