On the morning of Sept. 28, the first meteorology theme tram pulled out from the terminus. This tram, running between Canton Tower and Wanshengwei, will be in service for three months.
As the first meteorology theme tram in Guangdong, it consists of four carriages. Inside the carriages and on the windows are painted pictures and text about meteorological knowledge, covering the 24 solar terms and common meteorological phenomena in Guangdong, such as heat wave, haze, typhoon, thunderstorm, rainstorm and gale.

Since Typhoon Megi, the 17th typhoon this year, made landfall in Hui'an of Quanzhou city, east China's Fujian Province on the same day when the meteorology theme tram was launched in Guangzhou, are you curious about whether the tram could still run safely in thunderstorm or typhoon?
The tram can run normally in rainy season, because the tram rail has drainage function, and its electrical equipment and charger are placed on top of the tram, which won’t be flooded.
Besides, the tram also has lightning arrester on its highest point which will protect the tram from being hit by lightning. However, the tram needs to run slowly in fresh gale and stop running in strong gale.
