As one of the most remarkable comprehensive art exhibition in the world, Venice Biennale is under going in Italy now. This time, He Jingtang, an architect originated from Guangdong will show his artworks in Venice, and he is the first Chinese Architecture Academician who exhibits his work in Venice.
“PLACE, CULTURE, TIME He Jingtang: Design for Drastically Changing China” will be on from 10th Oct.-30th Oct. And 2rd Nov-15th Nov. In Venice, organized by Architecture Design & Research Institute, South China University of Technology and co-organized by IUAV and EMGdotART Foundation(Venice).
This exhibition presents He's representative works, indicates his architecture philosophy. As an iconic figure of the contemporary Chinese architect, He has been challenged by the constantly changing environment as result of the dramatic transformation in China in the past three decades, however, he managed to overcome the geographical and custom constraints in different cities of China and created a large number of architecture of diverse typologies and styles.
He's most excellent and profound ten projects, including museums, memorial halls, campuses and urban redevelopment etc. will be presented during the exhibition. The scale and local culture of these projects vary distinctively one from each other.
2016 is the 90th anniversary of IUAV, He’s exhibition is one of the most important international exhibition during the anniversary celebration.
He is a prominent Chinese architect and professor at the South China University of Technology's school of architecture whose works include the wrestling and badminton venues built for the 2008 Beijing Olympics and the Chinese Pavilion sometimes referred to as the "Crown of China" for Expo 2010 which was held in Shanghai and later reopened as the China Art Museum. More recently designed the new campus of the University of Macau which was completed in 2013.
