The 2016 China (Guangdong) International Tourism Industry Expo (CITIE) closed yesterday on Sep.11 at the Canton Fair Complex with high number of visitors and record-breaking transactions. During the last three days, the expo attracted over 3,000 exhibitors from 55 countries and areas, and about 500,000 visitors.
The contracted value of this year reached the record high, with 48 projects worth over RMB 126 billion signed. The sales volume in these three days were estimated to be RMB 800 million.
This is a high-level and wide-range influence expo.Zhu Xiaodan, Governor of Guangdong Province, gave high praises to this expo when he visited. He stressed that CITIE has become one of the professional travel expos in the whole country, featured by large scale, high degree of internationalization and good effect of market-oriented operation.
Zhu Xiaodan hopes that Guangdong’s overseas tourism cooperation & promotion centers offer a good platform on promoting Guangdong tourism products and resources. Guangdong is an important birthplace of the ancient Maritime Silk Road and the it is the strategic hub of Silk Road in 21st century, Guangdong should strengthen the tourism cooperation with countries and areas along the new Maritime Silk Road.
Besides, the expo held several forums and seminars for tourism industry insiders. In the forum on the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road, the experts expressed their views on Guangdong’s role and development in promoting its tourism industry.
11 vice ministers from Pacific Islands and 11 consul generals from consulates in Guangzhou also visited the tourism expo.
