Shenzhen, Guangzhou and Dongguan are the top 3 cities in Guangdong for inbound tourism in the first half of 2016.
From January to June this year, Guangdong attracts 174 million overnight visitors, with year-on-year growth of 13 percent, and 15.6 million of them are inbound travelers, according to the Analysis Report of Guangdong Tourism Economic Operation of the First Half Year of 2016.
The report was issued by Guangdong Tourism Research Centre (GDTRC) on the news conference in Guangzhou on September 9.
The main tourism economic indexes maintain steady growth in the first half-year, according to Doctor Li Guoping, the director of GDTRC.
The tourism revenue of Guangdong is up to 540 billion RMB in the first half of 2016, with a growth of 8.5 percent. The added value of tourism is about 243 billion RMB, which is 6.5 percent of Guangdong’s GDP and 12.5 percent of the added value of Guangdong’s service industry.
In tourism investment, 225 tourism projects under construction are included in provincial tourism investment project management system, with a total investment of 480.88 billion RMB. The first half-year finished investment of 25.54 billion RMB, accounting for 40 percent of the annual investment plan.

The tourism enterprises develop well. The number of travel agencies increased 119 compared to the end of last year. Passenger flow of scenic areas rises fast. Theme parks like Chimelong are attractive and competitive.
Combined with new trends of Guangdong tourism development, the report also analyses some flourishing new operational types of tourism, including Bed and Breakfast (B&B), cruise tourism, yacht tourism, self-driving RV camping and online travel.

The 2016 China (Guangdong) International Tourism Industry Expo (CITIE) is being held at Zone A of the China Import and Export Fair Complex in Guangzhou from September 8 to 11.
