Guangzhou R&F Football Club has completed the signing of Israeli forward Eran Zahavi on June 29, according to the statement of Guangzhou R&F.
It is estimated that the transfer fee is 8 million dollars.
It is reported that the first game of the Israeli forward would be the game on Junly 2 with Shijiazhuang Ever Bright Football Club (石家庄永昌) at Stadium of Yuexiu Mountain.
“It is a big challenge for me to play in China, but I am sure that Guangzhou fans will enjoy my unique goals celebration.” Zahavi indicated.
“He is dangerous on the field,” Dragan Stojkovic, coach of Guangzhou R&F said, “he can improve our attack, I am looking forward to see him soon.”
Eran Zahavi, 29, has scored 98 goals in 117 appearances for Maccabi Tel Aviv from 2013 to 2016. He was the leading scorer of Israeli Premier League in the season 2015-2016. During 2015-2016, Zahavi scored 47 goals, with 35 league goals, in 36 league games, and set a new Israeli record for league goals in single season.
Zahavi finished the 2015–16 UEFA Champions League qualifying phase and play-off round with 7 goals in 5 games.
He was named the Israeli Footballer of the Year twice (2013 and 2014) and finished as the top goalscorer in the Israeli Premier League in 2013-2014 (29 goals, all-time club record) and in 2015-2016 (35 goals, all time league record).
Guangzhou R&F promoted to the final 8 of Chinese FA cup after they beat Shanghai SIPG Football Club yesterday (June 29) at Stadium of Yuexiu Mountain. At present, they are 11th on the table of Chinese Super League.
