Recently, Hengqin’s oyster production techniques were selected as Zhuhai’s municipal intangible cultural heritage.
Hengqin’s oyster’s production techniques date back to more than 200 years ago. From natural fishing to seed-metering stocking and to rock stocking to rock-filling stocking, today’s oysters are developed through natural seedling selection and artificial breeding. Besides, the rope-hanging aquaculture model is a symbol of the development of Hengqin’s generation-to-generation oyster production techniques.
It’s reported that another four types of craftsmanship were also chosen as municipal intangible cultural heritage items. They include the Hushan Jinchao pipa duck cooking skills, the Tangs Maiji Bakery skills, the Lianzhou tylorrhynchus cooking skills and the Suns tread back tendon therapy.
