Zhuhai has seriously implemented the national intellectual property rights (IPR) strategy to support innovation and development during the past year. Zhuhai is now focused on building a national IPR pilot city. In this way, the creation and use of intellectual property will be fostered, driving Zhuhai's intellectual property work to a new level.
It's worth mentioning that Zhuhai accepted 11,334 patent applications in 2015, including 4,420 invention patent applications, an increase of 39 percent on an annual basis. This accounted for nearly 40 percent of all patent applications last year. What's gratifying is that 1,240 of the invention patent applications were authorized, a year-on-year increase of 104 percent. This created a 7-year high.
Among the patents of invention, utility model and design, innovation capacity is best shown in the patents of invention. The patent quality in Zhuhai has reached a high level.
In addition, the patents from Zhuhai have received many awards, including 26 national outstanding patented inventions awards (three golds) and 51 provincial outstanding patented inventions awards.
To protect IPR development in Hengqin, Gongbei Customs, Zhuhai's Hengqin New Area Administrative Committee, and the Hengqin International IPR Trading Center signed a Memorandum of Cooperation on Intellectual Property Rights Protection in March.
