The commencement ceremony for 12 key projects in the Guangdong-Macao Cooperation Industrial Park was recently held in southern China's Hengqin New Area. Officials including Edmund Ho Hau-wah, vice chairman of the 11th National Committee of the CPPCC, Yao Jian, deputy director of the Liaison Office Hong Kong SAR, the Central People's Government and Lionel Leong Vai Tac, Macao's secretary for economy and finance, attended the ceremony, cri.cn reported.
The 12 projects involve tourism and entertainment, cultural innovation, logistics, trade services and high-tech industry, covering a total area of 330,000 square meters, with a total investment of 9.65 billion yuan. The earliest completion of these projects will be in the second season of 2018.
Macao recommended 33 investment projects to the Park in April, 2014, and relevant agreements have been signed for 19 such projects.
Lionel Leong Vai Tac said that the establishment of the Park signified the win-win cooperation of Guangdong and Macao and provided the foundation for future cooperation. Macao will promote diversified economic development through regional cooperation.
