The 118th Canton Fair will kick off tomorrow (October 15th). Organizers of the Canton Fair introduced that the measures on foreign trade stimulation are working even though the number of buyers and the business turnover at the fair are expected to go down slightly.
According to the latest statistics released at the press conference today (Oct. 14th), 118th Canton Fair will be divided into 3 sessions, with about 60228 standard booths and 24700 enterprises at home and abroad to participate. Compared with the statistics in last fair, the number of the standard booths are the same, while the number of exhibitors has gone down slightly.
Importing exhibition zone becomes a highlight. This time 604 companies from over 40 countries and districts will show up in the zone, filling all 998 booths. The number of standard booths in last fair was 941. Among those 353 enterprises are from 28 countries along One Belt and One Road region, accounting for 58.44%.
12 countries and districts will arrange formal exhibition groups in the fair, with Australia organizing its first national exhibition group to the Fair. Special events and forums will also be arranged during the fair.
Xu Bing, the Deputy Director General of China Foreign Trade Center and also the spokesman of the latest China Import and Export Fair, admitted that due to the international trade environment, China has witnessed great pressures in foreign trade, which may also affect Canton Fair to some extent.
However, Xu insisted that some active elements are stimulating the businesses in this fair. He indicated that this time the fair has paid more attention to countries along One Belt and One Road, organizing promotion campaigns to attract more companies from those countries.
Over 60 meetings and forums will be held during the fair, themed “Internet+” marketing, trade risk management, trend of intelligent home appliances and so on.
