The Maritime Silk Road is a shared memory for people in China and Southeast Asian countries. This time, oil paintings reflecting the old days in Maritime Silk Road go back to Malaysia.

Deepen communication between Guangdong and Maritime Silk Road countries

The location of the exhibition Malacca, the capital of Malacca State in Malaysia, works as the key to connect Pacific Ocean and Indian Ocean. Feng thought that it meant a lot in reviving Maritime Silk Road.

Malacca Strait was an obligatory stop in maritime silk road, and also has reserved many Chinese cultural relics. Zheng He, a famous navigator in Ming Dynasty, used to stop in Malacca Strait five times, and now there are still many relics memorizing Zheng He.

As one of the oldest lanes in the world, the Maritime Silk Road has brought profound changes in economic and cultural communication between the East and the West, making great contributions in human civilization.

In October of 2013 Chinese president Xi Jinping mentioned “21st Century Maritime Silk Road” Initiatives, promoting further and deeper communication between countries along the Maritime Silk Road including Malaysia.

Now Guangdong is aiming to act as a leading role in it. This exhibition is one step to deepen cultural communication between Guangdong and countries along the Maritime Silk Road.

Idris Haron said that this exhibition was a good beginning in further developing the communication between Guangdong and China. Gan Tian Loo, who is an oversea Chinese, indicated that Feng’s oil painting came to Malacca, letting oversea Chinese here to enjoy excellent art from China.
