Is your name Li Jing? If so, you might be one of the 13 people named Li Jing to win a car plate during the recent car-plate lottery.
The likelihood of winning a car plate in the lottery was slightly over 1 percent for everyone who participated, but 11 percent of the people named Li Jing took home a plate and the right to drive in Shenzhen, Shenzhen Special Zone Daily reported Saturday.
The city’s vehicle quota administration center said there were 113 applicants named Li Jing in the seven rounds of lotteries, and 69 of them participated in the lotteries after passing the qualification review, while 13 got their license plates.
The spokesperson for the center, who was not identified, said it was a coincidence to have several winning applicants named Li Jing, adding that there are other very common names in the system, such as Liu Fang, the name of over 70 applicants.
Residents are wondering if the system somehow prefers the name Li Jing.
The spokesperson said the lottery system can only recognize and show applicants’ code numbers and does not display their names.
