An invitation-only meeting is being held in Shenzhen today to provide foreign residents of Futian with information about visas and doing business in Shenzhen. Legal experts will be on hand to answer questions during the salon, which is being hosted by the Futian government.
“We know that many foreign residents living in Shenzhen have difficulty accessing relevant information because of the language barrier or insufficient connections, therefore we hope to invite some experts to answer foreigners’ questions regarding legal affairs,” said Ma Lie, a person in charge of the event from the district’s foreign affairs bureau.
Likely topics include work visas, legally staying in China and the documentation required to run a business in Shenzhen.
More than 40 expats have been invited to attend the salon.
The organizers — the district’s foreign affairs office, Futian Subdistrict Office and the district’s public security authority — will invite experts from several government agencies related to foreign affairs to answer questions.
Futian District, located in the center of Shenzhen, has a large foreign population. Statistics show that people from more than 40 countries and regions are based in Futian District and 319 companies or organizations in the district have foreign staff.
Volunteers will also participate in the salon tonight to help translate.
Ma said the salon tonight will be the first of a series of salons to help foreigners solve problems they may encounter in everyday life or while operating a business.
