Two super long bus routes, No. 353 and No. 668, will be cut short to improve bus efficiency and reduce the waiting time of passengers.
The route from Pingshan New Area to Shenzhen West Railway Station in Nanshan District, which runs about 73.8 kilometers, will be divided into two sections, namely Pingshan to Shopping Park in Futian District and Shenzhen East Railway Station in Buji to Shenzhen West Railway Station.
Bus No. 668 from Fuyong, Bao’an District, to the Eastern Bus Group headquarters, which runs about 100 kilometers, will be cut short from Fuyong to the Longhua Bus Terminal.
This single trip takes 5 to 6 hours and leaves the drivers fatigued. After the route is cut short, the transportation commission will increase buses from the present 28 to 53 to reduce the waiting time of passengers.
This is part of the measures the Shenzhen Municipal Transportation Commission announced at a news conference Tuesday. It will optimize 106 bus routes including 10 news ones and cancel two routes.
The 10 routes include five routes on main roads and five routes during rush hour.
The rush hour routes mainly link Guangming CBD with Futian CBD, Xintian Bus Terminal with Nanshan CBD, Longhua New Area with the southern part of Shenzhen Hi-tech Industrial Park and Pinghu Renwucun Terminal with Huangbeiling Metro-Bus Terminal. Two routes, No. 987 and No. 654 will be canceled because there aren’t enough riders.
