A Sino-American hospital will be constructed in south China's Guangdong Province, according to an agreement signed on October 7.
Funded by a Chinese healthcare investment company, MGH Hospital China will be run by Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) and Guangdong Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine.
The agreement describes a state-of-the-art hospital with technology, equipment and personnel from MGH, alongside a research and teaching center to train Chinese staff. Other projects will encourage integration of traditional Chinese medicine with western medicine.
Founded in 1811, MGH was the first teaching hospital attached to Harvard Medical School. With 500 beds, MGH Hospital China will be based on Hengqin Island in Zhuhai City, close to Macao.
