The 2014 China Processing Trade Products Fair, held in Dongguan, saw contract value up 16.5 percent from last session to 89.6 billion RMB.
“The annual fair attracted 6,300 purchasers and 16,200 professional buyers this year, up 15 percent and 36 percent respectively over last session, mostly from the domestic market”, said Guangdong Deputy Secretary-General Liu Xiaojie.
Buyers from 44 of China’s top chain stores and 28 top domestic department stores attended the Fair, including Suningshop, China Resources Vanguard, Wangfujing Department Store and Wanda Department Store.
According to the provincial customs, in the first five months of this year, Guangdong's processing trade declined 18.6 percent year-on-year in the first five months of 2014. In contrast, trade value of general trade products increased 13 percent year on year during the same period.
A total of 23 meetings between suppliers and buyers were held during the fair. After one meeting Wal-Mart officials announced the opening of four new stores in Dongguan.
Marshell Electric Technology Co, which attend the fair the second year, garnered domestic sales of 300 million yuan in the first half year, expecting a 20 percent year on year increase.
Organizers of the fair launched an online application that gives users easy access to promote processing trade products on major Chinese online platforms such as Wechat, Taobao, Tmall and QQ. Over 1,000 manufacturers have become members of the e-commerce platform affiliated with the annual fair, which also includes some 43,200 registered online sellers.
