Consulate General of Italy celebrated National Day in Guangzhou

On June 1st, The Italian Consulate in Guangzhou held an official reception in Four Seasons Hotels to celebrate 72th Anniversary of the Italian Republic.

"The connection between Guangdong and Italy goes on and on as the silk road continues its role as the bridge between civilization in the east and the west," said Xu Ruisheng, Vice Governor of the Guangdong Province. "The total trade volume between Guangdong and Italy reached 66.71 billion RMB in 2017, an increase of 12.6%."

"At the time when China is embracing the 40th Anniversary of reform and opening up, we sincerely hope to join hands with all our Italian friends in the process of reviving the silk road , generate new sparks through integrating Guangdong people's pioneering spirit and Italian people's great passion, as well as Created in Guangdong and Made in Italy. Ten Policies and Measures of Foreign Investment Promotion which were lately introduced will further Guangdong's efforts to open up to the world for a legalized, internationalized and friendly business environment," Xu added.

"Italy and South China are linked by a historic tradition of exchanges since the ancient times, thanks to The Maritime Silk Road'," Laura Egoli, Consul General of Italy in Guangzhou indicated. "The good relationship between Italy and China are part of the greater picture that is the relationship between the People’s Republic and the European Union."

According to Laura Egoli, many Italian delegations deepening their relations with China, just as many were the meetings between Italian and Chinese authorities that took place in Italy. For example, the Emilia-Romagna Province chose Guangzhou to begin their institutional tour of China last year; the Turin city government visited Shenzhen last April and a delegation from Shenzhen itself will visit Milan soon.

2018 has been declared the EU-China Tourism Year, an occasion that will bring even more Chinese citizens to the discovery of new places in Italy. From mid-July, a new non-stop flight will connect Rome to Guangzhou, and that soon a flight between Shenzhen and Milan will be inaugurated.
