The first Africa Day, hosted by the African Consulates General in Guangzhou, will be celebrated in the city on 24th May, 2018.
Officials of the People’s Governments of Guangdong, Fujian, Yunan, Guizhou, Hunan, Jiangxi, Zhejiang, Hainan and Guanxi Zhuang Autonomous Provinces, members of the Diplomatic Corps and Africans in Diaspora will join in the celebration.
The first African Consulate General in Guangzhou was established in 2009, and today, the number has risen to 10, including the countries: Angola, Republic of Congo, Ethiopia, Ivory Coast, Mali, Nigeria, Senegal, Sudan, Uganda and Zambia.
Africa Day (formerly African Freedom Day and African Liberation Day) is the annual commemoration of the foundation of the Organization of African Unity (OAU) (now known as the African Union AU) on May 25, 1963. It is celebrated in all the member countries of the AU on the African continent, as well as around the world.
Moreover, Africa Day 2018 comes at an important moment in the continent’s endeavours towards peace, inclusive economic growth, eradication of corruption in governance and sustainable development.
According to the African Consulates General in Guangzhou, Africans depend on the support of friends and allies, especially China to achieve their objectives. This is against the backdrop of President Xi Jinping’s signature idea, the Belt and Road Initiative, whose impact is being felt in the area of infrastructural development throughout the African continent.

非洲外交使团在穗庆祝2018年非洲日
非洲各国驻穗总领事馆将于2018年5月24日庆祝2018年非洲日。广东、福建、云南、贵州、湖南、江西、浙江、海南和广西壮族自治区的人民政府官员，外交使团成员和其他非洲在华人士将参加庆祝活动。
非洲日（旧称非洲自由日和非洲解放日）是1963年5月25日非洲统一组织（非统组织，又称为非洲联盟，即非盟）成立的年度纪念活动。庆祝活动在非洲大陆所有非盟成员国及世界各地开展。
2018年非洲日有许多特别之处。这是自2009年在广州设立第一个非洲国家驻穗总领事馆以来，首次在广州庆祝非洲日。如今，在广州设立总领事馆的非洲国家数量已上升到10个，其中包括安哥拉、刚果共和国、埃塞俄比亚、科特迪瓦、马里、尼日利亚、塞内加尔、苏丹、乌干达和赞比亚。
此外，2018年非洲日正值非洲大陆致力于实现和平，促进包容性经济增长，消除治理腐败和推动可持续发展的重要时刻。前不久，非洲各国历史性地签署成立非洲大陆自由贸易区（AfCFTA）。以优先生产“非洲制造”的高附加值商品与服务为理念，这将为非洲大陆创造更多的就业机会，带来更多的投资和繁荣，从而提升非洲农民、工人、企业家，特别是妇女和青年的尊严和福祉。
非洲联盟的宏伟愿景，是在非洲人民的推动下，建立一个融合、繁荣与和平的非洲，成为全球舞台上充满活力的力量。非洲各国领导人心怀愿景，努力为非洲大陆的年轻人提供机会，带去希望。非洲超过60%的人口不到35岁。充分利用这项巨大的资产意味着加大力度投资教育、培训，提供体面的工作，鼓励年轻人塑造他们的未来。
实现这些崇高的目标，非洲需要盟国和友国，特别是中国的帮助。因此，即将于9月在北京举办的2018年中非合作论坛（FOCAC）峰会意义重大。非洲各国领导人期待峰会的圆满成功。峰会是在习近平主席“一带一路”倡议的特色理念下召开的会议，倡议促进了非洲大陆的基础设施建设。
