Consulate General of India in Guangzhou organized “Know India Tourism” seminar tin Guangzhou on Wednesday, February 28, 2018 to coincide with India’s participation at the Guangzhou International Travel Fair 2018 (GITF 2018). India Tourism, Beijing will set up an ‘Incredible India’ pavilion.

“China is currently world’s top tourism source market for international tourism industry. India and China together contribute the largest growth of the international tourism industry all over the world. All of us here can play a special role in enhancing the tourism cooperation between India and China as well as the people-to-people exchange”, Y.K.Sailas Thangal, Consul General of India in Guangzhou, remarked during seminar.
The seminar was attended by Mr. Mei Qijie, Deputy Director General of Tourism Administration of Guangdong Province, Ms. Liu Yumei, Director General of Guangzhou Tourism Bureau and other senior officials from tourism departments. Representatives of around 120 travel/tour agencies from all over China as well as Indian Tour/travel agents participating in Guangzhou International Travel Fair 2018 also took part in the seminar.

Mr. Mei Qijie, Deputy Director General of Tourism Administration of Guangdong Province sent sincere invitation to Indian people when addressing the seminar. He also stressed that India and China are countries with ancient civilizations. India is also one of the largest sources of tourists for Guangdong. Guangdong, with over 2000-year history, is the origin of the ancient Maritime Silk Road and now the frontier of reform and opening-up in China. With the unique Lingnan Culture and advanced modern economy, the province is filled with beautiful sceneries and surprises.
During the seminar, Mr. Tarun Kumar, Consul (Tourism) gave a detailed presentation on touristic destinations in India covering the regions of J&K, Delhi, Rajasthan, North East, Mumbai, Kerala etc, Buddhist circuit, health and wellness tourism, culture, sector-wise opportunities available in India’s booming tourism market, information on simplified visa procedures including eVisa scheme and B2B meetings.
Raffle draw of 4 return ticket to India sponsored by China Southern and Jet Airways brought the seminar to a climax.
