Guide to Italian wines provided in Guangzhou

Do you love wine? Do you want to know more about how to taste wine in the correct way and how to pair the right wine with the right dish? What do you know about Italian wines? If you want to know all and more about it, here comes the great opportunity.

A course called “I love Italian Wines - Top Italian Wine & Spirit Course” is being held in Guangzhou from March 31 to April 2, 2017. The aim of the course is to help Chinese consumers, media and professionals to increase their knowledge of all aspects of Italian wines such as grape variety, region and classification via more professional methods and channels.

The opening ceremony of the course was unveiled at the Four Seasons Hotel, Guangzhou on the morning of March 31, the first day of the course.

Many important figures were present, including Mr. Paolo Quattrocchi, Trade Commissioner of Italian Trade Agency Guangzhou Office, Ms. Laura Egoli, Consul General of Italy in Guangzhou, Mr. Ronny Lau, Chairman of the Hong Kong Wine Critics Association and Co-Chairman of the Shanghai International Wine Challenge (SIWC), and representatives of local wine importing partners.

Sommeliers, professional media, wine importers and buyers of supermarkets based in Guangdong attended the course.

The course is jointly hosted by the Italian Ministry of Economic Development, the ICE-Italian Trade Agency, UIV (Unione Italiana Vini), Federvini and the Italian National Wines Promotion Center - Enoteca Italiana.

After a successful 2016 edition, this year’s course is coming back and kicking off its first step of 2017 in Guangzhou, followed by Beijing, Shanghai, Chengdu and several other cities around the year.

After the three training days, on April 21 the Italian Trade Agency Guangzhou office will organize “I love Italian Wines” network event to award the “New twenty Promoters of Italian Wine”, who will receive official certificate in front of distinguished guests from wine industry in Guangdong and China.

Missed the course? Don’t worry, for more events about Italian wines will be organized in the following months in the abovementioned cities. The Italian Trade Agency will also promote the Italian wines in retail channels, in cooperation with local supermarkets, chain stores and wine importers. Various activities will be held, such promotional campaign, taste of new wines, and match of food and wine. More details about the activities will be released later.
