Over 40 football teams had registered to showcase their skills in MoneyGram G.O.A.L (Guangzhou Open African League), a new five-a-side football tournament, starting today (Oct. 22) in Guangzhou.

40 teams will have an chance to not only show their skills on the field, but also raise the trophy and win the Grand Prize of 2,000 USD for the best team and 1,000 USD for the runner-up.
Football players representing 11 different countries such as Nigeria, Ghana, Liberia, Senegal, Angola, Guinea Bissau, Guinea Conakry, Mali, Cameroon, Ivory Coast and Congo will compete in the first professional football tournament brought to the African communities in Guangzhou.

The tournament will take place at the Act Club, Tianhebei Road and run for 3 consecutive Saturday to culminate in the Grand Finals on Nov. 5, 2016.
“We are overwhelmed by the response to this tournament from the African communities. It’s inspiring that so many team have registered that we had to increase the number of participants.
