Sweet and sour pork is one of the classic foods in Cantonese cuisine. And it is said to has a high popularity among foreigners.
Sweet and sour pork can be written as “咕噜肉” (Mandarin: Gu1 Lu3 Rou4 Cantonese: Gu1 Lou1 Juk6) in Chinese. So, why does it have this name? Well, there are two legends for the name of “咕噜肉”:
咕噜肉在中文写作咕噜肉（普通话：Gu1 Lu3 Rou4 粤语：Gu1 Lou1 Juk6）。那，为什么这道菜会有一个这样的名字呢？据说有它有两个传说：
1.People are mouth watering when smelling the sweet and sour sauce and make the sound of “Gu Lu Gu Lu”. Therefore, this cuisine called “咕噜肉”.
2.This original name was “古老肉”(old meat), because it has a very long history. Then people started to use a partial tone, and its name was changed from “古老肉” to “咕噜肉”.
