咕噜肉是粤菜中的经典菜肴,以甜酸汁和猪肉煮成。由于广东在清朝的时候就已经率先对外国人开放,粤菜可以说是他们首先接触的中国菜,并且外国人喜欢酸酸甜甜的口味,所以咕噜肉在西方人中拥有极高的人气。

Sweet and sour pork can be written as “咕噜肉” (Mandarin: Gu1 Lu3 Rou4 Cantonese: Gu1 Lou1 Juk6) in Chinese. So, why does it have this name? Well, there are two legends for the name of “咕噜肉”:

咕噜肉在中文写作咕噜肉(普通话:Gu1 Lu3 Rou4 粤语:Gu1 Lou1 Juk6)。那,为什么这道菜会有一个这样的名字呢?据说有它有两个传说:

1.People are mouth watering when smelling the sweet and sour sauce and make the sound of “Gu Lu Gu Lu”. Therefore, this cuisine called “咕噜肉”.

1.由于酸甜汁的香味,吃客会不禁发出“咕噜咕噜”的吐口水声。

2.This original name was “古老肉”(old meat), because it has a very long history. Then people started to use a partial tone, and its name was changed from “古老肉” to “咕噜肉”.

2.其实咕噜肉原名为“古老肉”,因为它的历史比较悠久。后来由于谐音的原因,它的名字从“古老肉”变成“咕噜肉”。
