Mid-Autumn Festival is one of the traditional festivals in China, which originated from Tang Dynasty. Generally speaking, people would climb hills to appreciate the moon and eat mooncake at that day.

中秋节始于唐代，为中国其中一个传统节日。一般来说，中秋当天人们会登高，边赏月边吃月饼。

So, why mid-Autumn Festival is on the 15th day of the 8th lunar month?

好啦，问题来了，为什么中秋节是农历八月十五呢？

Legend has it that Hou Yi, a mythological figure was granted elixirs from Queen Mother of Heaven and he gave them to his wife Chang E for keeping. However, Hou Yi’s student forced Chang E to hand over the elixirs. Chang E of course refused to hand over the elixirs, instead, she swallowed all of them. Then Chang E flied to the Moon. That date was the 15th day of the 8th lunar month.

传说，神话人物后羿从王母娘娘处获得长生不老药，并交由老婆嫦娥保管。但是，后羿的徒弟一直觊觎这些长生不老药。当然，嫦娥作为一个贤良淑德的老婆，当然打死都不交出仙丹，那怎么办？嫦娥见无处可逃，果断了把仙丹全吞了（霸气）。吞了全部仙丹后，嫦娥突然飘了起来，并且飞向月亮，而这天正在农历八月十五（传说阿哈）。

Wait! What’s the relationship between Chang E and mooncake?

等等！嫦娥和月饼有个啥关系啊？

In order to meet Chang E again, Hou Yi learned to make mooncakes from a god, and put them on the northwest corner in his house. According to the god’s suggestion, he called Chang E three times. To his surprise, Chang E really came back from the moon. After that mooncakes become popular.

为了与妻子，也就是嫦娥相见，后羿向一位神仙习得月饼大法，因为神仙说你想见你老婆，就做月饼吧，做完把他们放在西北边，并大喊嫦娥三声（重要的事情说三遍？），你老婆就会回来啦。后羿照做，果然，她老婆从月亮慢慢地飘回地球了。从此，月饼也流行了。

Ingredient

Glutinous rice flour (45g)

Rice flour (35g)

Wheat starch (20g)

Milk (185g)

Oil (20ml)

Sugar (60g)

Purple sweet potato (500g)

主料：

糯米粉（45克）

大米粉（35克）

澄粉（20克）

牛奶（185克）

油 （20毫升）

糖（60克）

紫薯（500克）

DIY Step:

1.Firstly, steam the purple sweet potato.

紫薯放锅里蒸熟。

2.Mix glutinous rice flour, rice flour, wheat starch, milk, oil and sugar (30g) together.

把糯米粉，大米粉，澄粉，牛奶，油，30克糖放一起。

3.Stir the mixture until there is no lump, then, put it aside for half an hour. This is the crust.

搅拌至无颗粒状，静置半小时，这就是冰皮。

4.Steam the crust for 15 minutes.

放锅里蒸15分钟。

5.Mash the purple sweet potato.

把紫薯压成泥。

6.Stir the mashed potato with 30g sugar.

加入30克糖搅拌均匀。

7.Heat the wok with oil, fry the potato till dry, then, add appropriate glutinous rice flour and keep frying.

加少许油热锅，炒干紫薯泥粉吗，加入适量糯米粉继续炒。

8.Keep frying until the mashed potato is not sticky any more.

直到能团成团，而且不沾锅为止。

9.Stir the crust by chopsticks, then, cool it.

冰皮蒸熟后用筷子搅拌，冷却。

10.Twist the crust and potato into small balls respectively.

把冰皮和紫薯搓成一个个小球。

11.Press the crust and put the potato in it, then, wrap the potato up.

把冰皮摁扁，放入紫薯，慢慢封口。

12.Put them in mold, then, remove the mooncake from mold and put them in fridge.

放进模具，取出后放进冰箱。
