Rumi, It’s Okay to Say No

2015-May-27       Source: Newsgd.com

Rumi’s loveliness is embodied in every word and deed of hers. Greeting the guests at the door, pretending to call mom from the UK, helping two-year-old kid to stand up after she fell on the floor, comforting her by touching her shoulder lightly and saying “it’s okay”, etc.

Although Rumi is only about four years old, she has already learned how to deal with her own affairs. As a cute and easy-going mixed-blood in the kindergarten full of Chinese children, Rumi is very popular among the children, especially boys. One day, Rumi’s best friend in kindergarten came to tell Rumi that she didn’t want to be Rumi’s best friend anymore; Rumi was so sad that she cried her eyes out. “I also felt very sorry for her. But it was between the kids, so I couldn’t interfere or tell her how to deal with that directly. I just let her think about what she should do, because I believe that’s part of her life experience in this society. You should learn to face the problems and handle them by yourself.” That’s how Rumi learn to deal with her own affairs independently, and since then, she is treated like a little grown-up.
