Till June.15th, 20 of 35 provinces/municipalities/autonomous regions/special administration regions in China have released the average salary data of last year. Beijing keeps the first place as it is the only region in China where employees from non-private sectors can earn over RMB 100,000 per year. The number is also 2.4 times to that of Henan province, which appeared on the bottom of the list.

Guangdong so far stands No.3 on the list, 2 places up compared to 2013. However, the former second place Shanghai and the forth, Jiangsu, have not released the data yet.

Salary has once again become a hot topic among citizens in Guangdong as the province’s human resource and society security department issued a new regulation of wage payment for public review. The draft regulation set rules for many aspects of wage payment, thus it has achieved great public concerns. According to the new regulation, enterprises must pay the employees before the tenth day of the next month or they’ll get fined. Construction enterprises are demanded to pay even they suspend work for avoiding natural disasters. Moreover, workers can get revolving fund from the provincial government if their boss escaped with appropriating fund.

However, according to a survey from Southern Metropolis Daily, nearly 80% of interviewees feel that the new rules are too hard to implement.
