Dongguan - Agarwood Culture Museum
Agarwood Culture Museum, situated in Dongguan city, was officially opened in 2014 with an area of 8800 square meters. Eaglewood, also known as “Chen Xiang” in Chinese, is a dark resinous heartwood that forms in Aquilaria trees (large evergreens native to southeast Asia). It is valued in many cultures for its distinctive fragrance and thus is used for incense and perfumes.
The delicate museum was designed by academician He Jingtang, who also designed China Pavilion in Shanghai EXPO. The museum impresses visitors with top level agarwood from all over the world such as Malaysia, Vietnam and Indonesia. Besides exquisite agarwood, there are also vivid electronic presentations displaying the evolvement of Chinese agarwood culture.
Opening hour: 9:00 - 17:00 (Closed on Mondays)
