Residents from Guangzhou are found to be enthusiastic for travelling to Guangzhou's surrounding areas during the holiday, including to favored tourist destinations within Guangdong Province and to Hong Kong and Macao. Statistics show that 60% of tourists from Guangzhou have chosen Guangzhou's surrounding areas as their destinations during the three-day holiday.
During the Labor-day holiday, the Whitewater Village received over 48,000 tourists, including 35,000 self-driving tourists with over 8,500 motor vehicles. The sales of inclusive packages for fully-independent travelers and the booking of hotel rooms within favored tourist destinations in Guangdong Province and its surrounding areas reached a new high. The number of independent travelers from Guangzhou increased by 20% compared with the same period of 2014. 70% of the reasonably-priced hotel rooms near beach resorts and hot spring resorts were fully packed with tourists. Hong Kong and Macao were also primary destinations of choice for Guangzhou tourists. Statistics from GZL Travel Service Ltd show that as compared with the last Labor-day holiday, tourists from Guangzhou to Hong Kong and Macao have surged up by 30% this year.
