Ren Xuefeng, Secretary of the CPC Guangzhou Municipal Committee, and Chen Jianhua, Mayor of Guangzhou, recently met with a US trade delegation headed by US Secretary of Commerce Penny Pritzker and Deputy Secretary of Energy Elizabeth Sherwood-Randall. Other Guangzhou leaders Chen Guo and Luo Weifeng were also present at the meeting.
Mr. Ren extended a warm welcome to the visitors and briefed them on Guangzhou’s socioeconomic development. He said that Guangzhou enjoys solid ties with many cities and companies in the US, and that American companies are thriving in Guangzhou. He welcomed more US firms to increase their investment in Guangzhou, expand their business and set up R&D centers, shared service centers or regional headquarters in the city. He pledged that Guangzhou will continue to offer superb services for US businesses.
US Secretary of Commerce Pritzker talked about the purpose of their visit. She said that she has full confidence in Guangzhou’s strategic position, market potential and growth prospects as the city is thriving amidst the profound changes of the global economy and the “new normal” of the Chinese economy. She pledged that the US government will continue to encourage American companies to tap their capital, technology and management advantages to increase cooperation and exchange with Guangzhou in clean energy, energy conservation and environmental protection, and smart city for mutual benefits and win-win results.
