National Intellectual Property has primary approved to launch an intellectual property rights (IPR) protection express center in Guangdong Free Trade Zone, offering a fast-track for faster IP application, authorization, and protection to key enterprises, according to Ma, Director-General of Guangdong Intellectual Property Office, on the press conference on April 17.
Ma released Guangdong Intellectual property Rights Protection in 2014 on the press conference to campaign National Intellectual Property Publicity Week from April 20 to April 26, also marking the 15th World Intellectual Property Day on April 26. He said the report can truly "promote the cultural concept of respecting and protecting intellectual property, which is of great importance for implementing innovation-driven development strategy and building an innovation-oriented country".
For the newly-approved Guangdong Free Trade Zone, Ma briefed press that the government had already deployed officials to Shanghai FTZ to investigate the IP protection results had achieved in the recent years. He said Guangdong officials have started to draft government opinions on FTZ-specified intellectual protection issues, and he promised Guangdong FTZ will be based on an original IP protection system to preserve intellectual property rights of corporations based in the area.
