Garbage classification will be promoted citywide this year, following a three-year pilot program, the city's domestic garbage classification management center said.
Various measures will be taken to encourage residents to put garbage into separate waste bins. A "resource recycling day" will be set up for the collection of low-value waste, such as worn-out fabric, plastic and glass, as well as harmful waste.
Residents can also expect to be able to have their large pieces of furniture collected by just making a phone call, center officials said.
Authorities in the city plan to nurture more than two enterprises specialized in collecting and processing large pieces of furniture and household appliances.
