Yesterday's report by Shenzhen Special Zone Daily attributed the recently improved traffic conditions and a decrease in the number of recorded illegal parking violations to the implementation of the roadside parking scheme.
The average vehicle speed in Futian was 20.1 kilometers per hour from Feb. 9 to 13, 13.8 percent faster than the speed in the same period last year, according to official monitoring data.
In Nanshan, the average vehicle speed increased by 14.8 percent year-on-year to 21.8 kilometers per hour over the same period.
In addition, residential and commercial areas also saw an increase in their average vehicle speeds.
About 446,344 people have registered for roadside parking payment accounts via channels like the mobile phone app, by telephone, on WeChat and through the official website.
