The 2015 annual meeting of the World Economic Forum was staged at Devos from January 21-24, drawing more than 2,500 participants from 140 countries. The forum brought together the executives of many of the world's top companies. Three renowned Guangzhou-based companies – Guangzhou Automobile Industry Group, Guangzhou Pharmaceutical Holdings, and Yuexiu Enterprise Holdings – were also represented at the forum for the first time, along with the other companies which are ranked among the world's top 1,000.
The annual meeting of the World Economic Forum is attended by executives of the world's top 1,000 transnational corporations. To gain membership of the forum, a company must have a dominant position in the market, annual sales in excess of US$ 5 billion, globalized production, operations and marketing, be a leader in the relevant global or regional industry, have vast growth potential to become the industry leader, and have sound operating mechanisms, a positive corporate image, and no bad debts.
Guangzhou Automobile Industry Group, Guangzhou Pharmaceutical Holdings, and Yuexiu Enterprise Holdings, which meet the membership requirements, were invited to the forum by the organizers of the forum. The chairpersons or general managers of the three Guangzhou-based companies attended the forum, discussing related industrial and regional projects in depth with other participants.
According to media reports, more than ten companies in mainland China were represented at the Devos Forum. All of the three Guangzhou participants have annual sales of more than RMB 100 billion. It is noteworthy that Guangzhou Automobile Industry Group and Guangzhou Pharmaceutical Holdings were the only company of their respective Chinese industries at the forum.
