Guangdong, Alibaba strengthen cooperation in e-commerce

Guangdong government and the Alibaba group signed a strategic cooperation framework agreement yesterday to further cooperation in county e-commerce, cloud computing, big data, cross-border e-commerce and smart logistic network.

Guangdong government and the Alibaba group signed a strategic cooperation framework agreement yesterday to further cooperation in county e-commerce, cloud computing, big data, cross-border e-commerce and smart logistic network. To build Alibaba center in the South China region, a total of 50 counties and 10000 villages will be involved in the e-commerce program. Hu Chunhua, Guangdong’s Party Chief, Zhu Xiaodan, Guangdong’s Governor and Jack Ma attended the signing ceremony.

Ma revealed in the ceremony that $25 billion received after its listing would go to three main areas: cross-border e-commerce, county e-commerce and big data and cloud computing.

Alibaba would actively participate in the e-commerce program in the county level and the information construction in Guangdong province. It would also set up a column on the Taobao website to promote agricultural products with special Guangdong characteristics, tourist souvenirs and distinct tourism resources of Guangdong. In addition, efforts would be made to develop cloud computing and big data in Guangdong, said Jack Ma in the meeting. He also mentioned their plan to build the cloud computing center in Shenzhen.

Besides, Alibaba announced the open of “Guangdong Pavilion”, an online platform for showcasing and selling Guangdong products in Taobao . Alibaba rural e-commerce pilot program is also claimed to launch in Qingyuan, a city north to Guangzhou.
