“I studies in Srinakharinwirot University in Bangkok. I have been to China when I was in high school. I fell in love with China and chose this Chinese name for myself.” Cai told reporter. “Chinese characters are so cute, so beautiful! I heard that Chinese characters originated from pictures and paintings, they are interesting! And each Chinese characters represents a meaning, that’s different from characters in Thai”, Cai added.

Cai’s love with Chinese culture is not exceptional. The two counties have an invisible bond, either on history, economic or culture. Thailand was one of the pivots on the Maritime Silk Road historically. In Ming Dynasty and Qing Dynasty, Thailand and China paid mutual visits more than a hundred times.
“Our princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn visited GDUFS last year,” said Cai, “She has paid visit to Guangzhou several times”.
Sirindhorn, Princess of Thailand, is very familiar with Chinese and Chinese culture. She has learnt Chinese for many years and got a Doctoral Degree of Chinese. Thaksin and Yingluck, former Prime Ministers of Thailand, decedents of Teochewese, paid visits to Buddhist temples in China many times after they resigned. They are the icon of the friendship between Thailand and China as well as the bridge for the communication of two countries.
“China and Thailand have a strong bond as many Chinese people are doing business or travel in Thailand,” said Cai. The business and travel connection will definitely brings further communications.
“When I go home, I often meet many foreigners who asked for directions in subway. They thought I’m from Hong Kong. But when they know I’m from Thailand and could speak Chinese, they are very excited then keep asking. Actually, Thai people want to learn Chinese since we want to communicate with you. Language will become another bond in the future.” added by Cai.
Cai feels that the scenery of beach in southern part of Thailand is most attractive in Thailand, like Pattaya. Coincidently, Guangzhou, where she is studying in, also lies in the southern part of China.
“I do not know much about Guangdong when I arrived, but I gain more knowledge about Guangdong now. I love Shangxiajiu and Canton Tower the most, they are really amazing!” said Cai. “Guangzhou is a suitable place for foreigners to either live, work or study because it has a history of welcoming foreigners.”
