Wu Shunze, Vice President of Environmental Planning Institute of the Ministry of Environmental Protection, emphasized the priority of biological environment protection in urbanization process.
Wu said, the document "New Urbanization Planning of China" listed 6 problems of China's urbanization process to be solved, 4 of which are closely related to environment and resource usage.
"In 2013, the per capita GDP of mainland China reached 6,600 USD. In this stage, people pay increased attention to quality of food, air, water, public service, environment, etc. "
"So, in the urbanization process, we need to have three red lines, the first is biologic system and heritage protection; the second is environmental resources protection, which means a city's development scale should be kept within its environmental resources' bearing capacity; the third is people's health and safety. For these, the urban planning should have good infrastructure and sewage and rubbish treatment plans. " (By Wing)
