A fleet of 15 off-road vehicles with 65 drivers and passengers set out at the Canton Tower on Starlight Avenue in Haixinsha Park on the morning of August 30. They will travel 18,000 kilometers across seven countries in Eurasia in 41 days as "humanistic messengers". After a party below the Eiffel Tower in Paris on October 1, they will head back to the Macao Tower, creating "a dialogue of three towers" as part of the efforts to revive the Silk Road and prosper civic diplomacy.
In 2002, a similar fleet from Guangzhou traveled 15,000 kilometers over 56 days across 11 countries in Eurasia, arriving at Guangzhou's sister city Lyons. It was the first Chinese fleet to travel abroad.
