Six suspects charged with organizing or assisting in prostitution stood on trial at Shenzhen Intermediate People's Court in South China's Guangdong province on Tuesday.
According to Shenzhen city procuratorate, He Jianlin, the main suspect from Macao, colluded with other suspects from Guangdong and Macao to recruit young women from across the country and, using travel visas, smuggle them to Jakarta to engage in prostitution.
The prosecuting department said the gang members performed a wide array of tasks, including recruiting women, handling visas, making arrangements for accommodations and transferring money.
Since 2011, the criminal gang has organized and trafficked more than 10 Chinese women to hotels and entertainment venues in Jakarta to provide sex services, according to Shenzhen prosecuting department.
The six suspects confessed their crimes during the court hearing, and the verdict will be released at a later date, according to Shenzhen intermediate court.
