From June 16 to 23, Huang Mengfu, former vice chairman of the CPPCC National Committee and honorary chairman of the All-China Federation of Industry & Commerce, visited Zhanjiang for a comprehensive survey on Zhanjiang's economic and social development. On the morning of June 17, accompanied by Liu Xiaohua, secretary of the CPC Zhanjiang Municipal Committee and Deng Biquan, chairman of the CPPCC Zhanjiang Municipal Committee, Huang headed to Donghai Island for a survey of the construction sites of the key projects and the aquaculture research base. He acclaimed Zhanjiang's prominent late-mover advantage and huge development potential, encouraging Zhanjiang to accelerate the construction of major projects, raise the development level of modern industry, continue to develop modern agriculture and speed up the development of the private economy, thus rising first in Guangdong's new-round development.
As a new industrial growth pole, Donghai Island is the place where the three major industries--iron & steel, petrochemical and papermaking set sail. Huang headed to the construction sites of the China-Kuwait refining & petrochemical project and the iron & steel project to find out the progress of the projects. Liu introduced the projects as well as their construction progress and industrial outlook.
At Zhanjiang Hengxing Nanfang Marine Technology Co., Ltd., Huang investigated the progress of aquaculture research. With a solid agricultural foundation, Zhanjiang should continue to consolidate and develop its advantageous agricultural brands such as aquaculture and vigorously develop modern agriculture while prospering modern industry, he noted.
On the morning of June 19, Huang visited China International Aquatic Products Exposition 2014 at the Zhanjiang International Convention and Exhibition Center. He hoped that Zhanjiang would play its role as one of the earliest national model bases for foreign trade transformation and upgrading to drive the transformation and upgrading of aquaculture and promote the prosperity of the marine industry; and to make good use of the exposition to boost the overall level of China's aquaculture.
