Though Spring Festival is a happy holiday for Chinese reunions, the pressure it brings to railway stations cannot be ignored. Considering that this Chinese New Year has been moved up by 11 days from last year's festivities, which gives those in the industry less time to make accommodations.

Most students, migrant workers and tourists will return during Jan 15 to 20 and the average daily passenger flow is predicted to be around 98,000 travelers.
According to a Guangzhou Railway (Group) Corporation press conference, Wuhan-Guangzhou high-speed railway might run for 24 hours cancelling machine testing at night in case of snowy days or huge flow and 100 shuttles will be prepared every day before the festival. Other area railways like Guangzhou-Shenzhen high-speed railway will add more shuttles as well.
However, before the festival, 16 million people are expected to leave Guangdong Province, which is double the capacity that the railway can transport. After the festival, the longer holiday for students can stagger returning time with the workers and tourists, which can soft the pressure of railway transportation.
