Guangdong and Vietnam vowed to strengthen cooperation during the Vietnam-China (Guangdong) enterprises Forum held in Guangzhou on Sunday (April 19).
Guangdong Party Secretary Wang Yang and Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung, together with a total of 500 political leaders and enterprises form China and Vietnam attended the forum
Wang said Guangdong-Vietnam trade saw a sharp increase of 37 percent in 2008 and 24.5 percent in the first three months of 2009, despite the international financial crisis. He proposed the two sides deepen trade cooperation, expand multi-level cooperation, strengthen business exchanges and cooperation and improve the long-term cooperation mechanism.
Nguyen hoped the two sides further cooperation so as to make greater progress amid the financial crisis. At present, China directly invest in over 600 projects in Vietnam, and Guangdong and Vietnam is building an economic zone in Vietnam with a total investment of 4 billion USD.
In the forum, the two sides signed three memorandums of understanding on cooperation of trade, investment and entrepreneurs.
Nguyen arrived in Guangzhou after attending the 2009 meeting of the Bo'ao Forum for Asia in south China's Hainan Province on Saturday. He will leave Guangzhou on Monday.
