Lin Xiong (L), Director General of Guangdong Publicity Department gives awardes to Wang Yulong

Yesterday (Dec. 2), the top 15 documentaries and five most outstanding seasoned documentary makers in Guangdong were honored in Guangdong's annual Documentary gala. Lin Xiong, Director General of Guangdong Publicity Department, Yang Jian and Li Shoujin, Deputy Director Generals of Guangdong Publicity Department, attended the event.

Four documentary makers receive awards

Besides the annual documentary awards, this year the gala had a special section on the development of Guangdong's documentary making for the past 30 years, when the place saw earthshaking economic growth. The top 15 documentaries selected included the big topics like the reform and opening up, the fighting against SARS and Beijing Olympics and also small but humanistic topics reflecting local people's every day life.

The outstanding award went to Wang Yulong, the camera man of the milestone documentary "Love of Pearl River" and hundreds of other documentaries.
