According to Guangdong Provincial Health Department, till 12am, Sep 15, the province had found 8 new infant kidney stone cases, which are caused by "Sanlu milk powder".
The department directed the local top-graded children's hospitals and hospitals with pediatric department to give prompt diagnosis and treatment to the infants sickened after drinking contaminated formula.
According to Xinhua, an estimated 1,253 babies developed kidney stones after drinking the tainted milk powder national wide till Sep 15. Two died as a result.
China's dairy giant, Sanlu Group, which is at the heart of the toxic food scandal, apologized to the public for its contaminated milk powder.
