Mr. Davidson, participating the four day tour to east Pearl River Delta organized by Guangdong Foreign Affairs Office, think the interesting part of the tour to him is Dongguan and Huizhou. For the British Consulate General in Guangzhou has spend a lot of time in exploring the business opportunities in Guangzhou and Shenzhen, so he knows very well about the two center cities of the region. And although the biggest investment of UK is Shell's project in Huizhou, he has never been to the city before. And he believe, as Guangdong is developing in such a high speed, he will find Dongguan and Huizhou bringing the levels of opportunities he has seen in Guangzhou and Shenzhen. He expected the tour to add value to his introduce to British government and people to invest in Guangdong.
He added, Guangdong has an economy almost as large as Saudi Arabia and is larger than Hong Kong and Taiwan, the British businessmen would come to invest here when they know about that.
More important, as Party Secretary Wang Yang of Guangdong province started new policies to transform industry structure to make sure Guangdong in the lead of development in new economy of China, the province would start to develop bio technology, healthcare, financial service, high tech, advanced engineering and creative industry, all of which were UK particularly good at. He hoped Guangdong's move would bring new cooperation opportunities.
What's more, Guangdong is paying increasing attention to energy efficiency and environmental protection. The British Consulate General in Guangzhou this year added a 6-people team dedicated to climate changing and energy issue. The team is now seeking practical opportunities to work with Guangdong government, in research and other fields, now.
Mr. Davidson, almost an expert in Guangdong's latest economy policies, said Guangdong had achieved great success in the past 30 years' development, and the province would increase its attraction to the foreign investors by improving its innovation strength.
When commenting Guangdong's investment environment, Mr. Davison said the investors thought the governmental services were improving and were positive to invest in Guangdong for they see that the province is business friendly and the government is open to new ideas and new partnerships.
He pointed out that the British investors' success in Guangdong is to do research and find a good local partner before they started business here.
