Spain will set up Consulate General in Guangzhou, released Spanish ambassador D. Carlos Blasco when met with Guangdong Governor Huang Huahua in Guangzhou on April. 17.
In the meeting, Governor Huang said, Guangdong and Spain are economically complementary. The total trade volume between Guangdong and Spain reached 4.95 billion US Dollars last year, an increase of nearly 50% over the previous year. The trade between both sides this year has experienced rapid growth.
Guangdong welcomes Spanish enterprises especially the Hi-tech, premium service and advanced manufacture industries. He also remarked that a Guangdong delegation is to visit Spain for economic and trade exchange in the second half of the year.
Carlos Blasco Villa expressed his hopes of closer cooperation with Guangdong province. The Spanish government has decided to set up a consulate general in Guangzhou. Simultaneously an economical and trade office is to be set up in the same city.
So far there are approximately 500 Spanish enterprises in China and one tenth is located in Guangdong.
