Guangzhou plans to launch a 鈥渨age doubling鈥 plan recently, with a target that in 2012 the Guangzhou employee鈥檚 wage will double that in year 2000. Cui Renquan, director of the Guangzhou labor and social security bureau, said from 2008, the employees in the city will have a wage rise of more than 12 percent annually.

Also, there is a program for equal payment and equitable distribution on the way.

The residents鈥 income is expected increase far faster than the CPI growth rate, which will be controled under 4%, according to Mayor Zhang Guangning in his government work report released in the Third Session of the Thirteenth National People's Congress of Guangzhou on February 17.
