Taishan Nuclear Plant project in Jiangmen, as scheduled, will start the construction of main unit next September and the first generating unit will start operation in Dec, 2013.
During the just past spring festival, Party Chief Chen Jixing and Mayor Wang Nanjian of Jiangmen met with He Yu, General Manager of China Guangdong Nuclear Power Group. The two sides urged a better communication so as to accelerate the project construction.
Taishan Nuclear Plant is a under-construction project in west Pearl River bank, aiming to ease the power shortage in the area. The project, together with Ling'ao Phase II and Yangjiang Phase I, are the province鈥檚 three nuclear plant projects to be completed in the coming five years. According to the provincial officials, a nuclear power cluster will be built throughout the province so that by the year 2020, Guangdong will have a gross production capacity of 24 million kilowatts nuclear power, about 60 percent of the nation's total.
