Guangdong's CPI increase in last December is 0.4 percentage points lower than the previous month, with a year on year rise of 5.6 percent, released National Bureau of Statistics on January 13, 2008.
The food price climbed 11.7 percent, prices of home facilities rose 6.3 percent, and healthcare price increased 5.3 percent. The clothing price dropped 1.7 percent and prices of transportation, communications decreased 0.4 percent at the same period.
Guangdong provincial Government has taken several measures to stabilize market prices, with a target to limit the inflation within 4 percent this year, Governor Huang Huahua declared in a working conference in Guangzhou yesterday (Jan. 13).
The province will strengthen price control and supervision and take necessary steps to keep the market prices stable, and safeguard the commodity supply in Spring Festival and other important festivals, said Governor Huang
Guangdong's average CPI growth in the last 5 years is on a rational level of 2.3 percent, which provided the province a good environment for scientific social and economic development.
