Guangdong launched Monday morning (Dec 17) an anti-terrorist drill in Guangzhou, which is aimed at enhancing the city's emergency response and its anti-terrorism forces when a chemical blast occurs.
A total of 14 anti-terrorist forces and more than 500 policemen participated in the exercise. Observers from China鈥檚 Ministry of Public Security, Guangdong Government, Guangzhou Government and various departments of Guangdong Province watched the exercise.
Meng Hongwei, China's Vice Minister of Public Security, praised the exercise and urged various departments of Guangdong Province to intensify anti-terrorist efforts so as to ensure the security during the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
Liu Yupu, Vice Secretary of the CPC Guangdong Committee, stressed that Guangdong government will enhance the construction of anti terrorist coordinate system and forces, and improve anti-terrorist plan to safeguard the province.
